Professor of Structural Biology

Juha leads Nanometria’s scientific direction and works hands-on with all clients. He is Professor of Structural Biology at the University of Helsinki and Associate Professor and an Honorary Visiting Researcher at the University of Oxford. Previously consulted for three major pharmaceutical and biotech companies on cryo-EM projects prior to founding Nanometria.

Scientific foundation

Nanometria’s methods are built on 15+ years of cryo-electron tomography and subtomogram averaging research, including the development of localized reconstruction techniques for analysing symmetry-mismatched viral complexes. Key publications include:

  • Viral genome organization — Nature (2019), resolving RNA packaging in dsRNA viruses
